White detailed dressage set

August 2014
While I was working on Kellye’s portuguese set, my new stone Thoroughbred arrived. And I couldn’t help myself, I just hád to make him some tack!! And now, a couple of days later, he’s all dressed up, yay!
It’s a black dressage set with white details, and luxurious gold coloured hardware.

Draft horse bridle

August 2014
A draft horse showmanship bridle for Tiffany’s bridle, a little thank you for the way she helps me out with getting some Breyer models!

Pony express saddle

September 2014
And here’s another historic set! Well, it is a set, but the bridle is already with the owner, so it’s actually only a saddle, haha. This saddle is one from the Pony Express, and the real thing was used to deliver post in as short a time as possible.

It’s quite fun to tell how they did this. Back in the days horses were the fastest mode of transport, and the Pony Express specialised in delivering mail as quick as possible. One of their ways to be able to go so fast, was the way they changed horses. When a horse was tired, they would change it for a fresh one at a station. The fresh horse would be ready and waiting (saddled and all), and the rider just had to lift the mochilla (cover) from the saddle of the tired horse, put it over the saddle of the fresh horse and then he could ride on! This super efficient way to change horses meant that they only lost 2 minutes time when getting a fresh horse!

Hystoric jousting set

August 2014
This was the last week of my “holiday”, now I’m gonna concentrate on getting a job again. That means that I’ll be slightly less productive, but I’m still making tack!
Past week, I’ve started and finished a jousting set for Emily. It’s a set for a medieval war horse. The particulair “type” of horse would be a Palfrey (riding horse) which can be used for warfare, jousting and hunting. A bit of an all rounder, when it comes to riding. The shield on the back of the saddle is (part of) Emily’s personal shield, with a seahorse on it.
The set was made to fit the breyer Andalusian Stallion (Templado).

Portuguese set donation

August 2014
So, this seems to be the last portuguese set I’ll do in a while. Well, that is to say, there are at least 2 other tacksets before the next one, lol.
This set is a donation set for Utterly Horses Hullabaloo (took me a long while to get that last word right, lol) in England. I was supposed to go there too, but due to some unexpected circumstances, I won’t be able to attend the show this year. Maybe next year though?
Anyway, this set is different from most of my other portuguese sets in two things:  The seat is made from leather instead of velvet, and the bridle is simple instead of very decorated.
Personally, I like it as much as the other ones, and making the leather seat was a nice change from the stitching my way through the velvet ones!!

Portuguese set

August 2014
This portuguese set is for one of my best model-horse-friends, Gea. The set is made to fit the Vega resin.
I’ve used gold-coloured stitches in the seat this time, and I’m very excited about the result! It really makes the set sparkle, literally.

Pony bridle

June 2014
I was so happy with that donation bridle, I decided I need one for myself too! So I’ve made this pony bridle for my Eclipse. A saddle and colourful pad will be added later on!

Pony bridle donation

June 2014
This bridle is a donation for “Treaty City Live”, a live show in Ohio. It’s a colourfull bridle, made to fit traditional ponies like Newsworthy, or classic horses.
Reins like these are very real, they are used for kids so that then can see if they’ve got their hands on the same places on both reins.

Portuguese set

May 2014
I’m on the roll with portuguese sets! And guess what? There are three more coming! Lol. This one is also made to fit Alborozo.

Portuguese set

May 2014
And the thirth and last set for my trade with Tiffany: A portuguese set her Alborozo! Now I can sit back and look forward to the beautifull custom that she’s gonna make me, whoohoo!
Edit: In the last picture you can see the custom Tiffany has made me, it’s a wonderful portrait of Schilder Chadwick, a haflinger gypsy cross which I’m allowed to ride once in a while!
